EGYM SMART STRENGTH TRAINING

EGYM Smart Strength is a personalized, full-body training experience that guides you through circuit workouts rep-by-rep to make working out fun, fast, and effective for any fitness level. EGYM hits most of the major muscle groups with a variety of equipment in the circuit, including:

  • Chest Press
  • Seated Row
  • Ab Crunch
  • Back Extension
  • Leg Curl
  • Leg Extension
  • Lat Pull
  • Shoulder Press
  • Leg Press

During your onboarding, an Ames Parks & Recreation trainer will provide you your EGYM wristband and walk you through a strength assessment to find your optimal resistance settings. Your trainer will also set the machines to your proper range of motion. After this initial setup with the trainer, you can start EGYM training on your own.

HOW THE EGYM CIRCUIT WORKS

The EGYM circuit is customized to your optimal strength and resistance settings.

  1. Begin starting at the back extension machine and rotate counterclockwise around the room after each cycle, following the circuit order.
  2. At each machine, you will tap your EGYM wristband on the marked area, and the machines will automatically set the weight level and range of motion customized for you, adapting and supporting you through the circuit with an interactive screen.
  3. Work out on each machine on the orange circle and transition to the next machine on the blue circle. Workout intervals vary depending on the training program, but the circuit timer is set for a 110-second cycle. The cycle is divided between work and rest, with the work interval ranging from 42 to 80 seconds.
  4. Complete one circuit and repeat two to three times a visit, being courteous of other circuit users.
  5. You may skip a machine within the circuit, however, if the following machine is being used, please wait at the machine you are not using during the orange workout interval so as to not interrupt other participants.

One circuit takes 15 minutes to complete, and Ames Parks & Recreation trainers recommend repeating the circuit two to three times each visit. All workouts are logged in the EGYM app without any memorizing or guesswork needed.

Start the circuit at the lower back machine and move counterclockwise through the circuit. Follow the order of exercises in the circuit and do not remain on a piece of equipment for multiple sets. Everyone will be exercising at the same time with the orange timer, and everyone transitions at the same time with the blue timer. Please stay in order of the circuit, and be courteous to those waiting in line for the circuit before beginning a second round.
