Full Job Description 

Do you enjoy being in the kitchen and creating meals people genuinely appreciate? Whether you have professional experience or simply love to cook, this is a great opportunity to stay active, social, and engaged—without the demands of a full-time kitchen.

The Bistro is looking for a Part-Time Cook who takes pride in preparing fresh, flavorful meals and contributing to a welcoming, community-focused environment.

 What You’ll Do

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes

  • Assist with food prep and daily kitchen operations

  •  Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, prep areas, and dishes

  • Take customer orders at the front counter as needed

  • Help monitor food and supply inventory, including monthly counts

  • Stock and organize incoming food and supply orders

  • Support menu and recipe development with ideas and feedback

  • Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and running smoothly

  • Report any equipment or maintenance needs

  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to daily operations

  • Perform other duties as needed

Who We Are

The Bistro is a cafe-style restaurant in the Sixty Forward Center, but serves all ages. Open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday, The Bistro offers a variety of delicious breakfast and lunch options — from the flaky Quiche Lorraine to the premium Bistro Burger.

As a partnership between Ames Parks & Recreation, Heartland of Story County, and Mary Greeley Medical Center, Sixty Forward connects those 60+ in Ames and throughout Story County to shared facilities and a wide range of programming that supports a physically active, socially vibrant, and healthy life.
