Sixty Forward supports a variety of fun and social physical activities to help those 60+ stay active. Physical activity supports bone strength, cardiovascular and mental health, promotes restful sleep, and increases mental clarity and focus. Activities are offered in a variety of settings to suit any fitness needs. Whether in the pool, on the golf course, or in a state-of-the-art gym — Sixty Forward includes activities across the city of Ames, so there is something for everyone.
Friendship improves mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. A sense of community can enhance cognitive function and encourage physical activity that adds literal years to life. That’s why Sixty Forward offers so many ways to connect. Participating in ongoing clubs, learning a new skill, attending a concert, or partaking in hands-on volunteer opportunities are just a few ways you can connect and thrive.
Everyone’s path to wellness is unique, which is why Sixty Forward integrates a holistic approach to health and wellness through a variety of classes, support groups, health screenings and clinics. Services like Meals on Wheels and the Adult Day Center, as well as education in diabetic nutrition, SHIIP Counseling, and bereavement support, connect families and individuals with vital resources to live well.
