Aging in Place: Adaptive Solutions

This program offers an educational opportunity to support older adults and their caregivers in maintaining safety, independence, and confidence while aging in place with emphasis on adaptive and assistive equipment, with no obligation to purchase. Led by an occupational therapy student, the program includes live demonstrations of equipment donated by Easter Seals, followed by optional consultation offering individualized, client-centered guidance tailored to participants’ needs and home environments.

Bird Walk Meet-Up

Join Nancy Franz, retired Extension professional and County Conservation Board member at the Carr Park parking lot for a Bird Walk.

This program will be along the Skunk River on dirt and blacktop trails. Participants must be able to walk up to two miles and stand for up to five minutes for bird observations. Dress for the weather and bring binoculars.

*The bird walk will be postponed if there are rain or high winds.

Wildflower Ramble Meet-Up

Duckpin Bowling League Pre-registration Information

Ames Parks and Recreation is excited to host our third Duckpin Bowling League at the Sixty Forward Center! This six-week league is for adults aged 60+, offering a fun way to stay active, connect with others, and enjoy some friendly competition. Pre-Registration Window: January 1- January 20

  • Registration: Please register as an individual and indicate a preferred partner if you have one. If not, we’ll happily match you with another participant.
  • Teams: 2–3 players (Depending on registration numbers)
  • Game Play: Two games each Wednesday between 2–5 p.m.
  • Winter League Dates: January 21–February 25
  • Price per League: $42 residents · $47 non-residents
